A A. Inishlacken Day

When you land at the harbour in Inishlacken just off the coast from Roundstone, take the green road off to the left and soon you will see this old water reservoir which provided water for the island and served as a navigational marker as well. Some of the old houses on the island are visible and Errisbeg Hill on the mainland. I painted this on a gorgeous day in June, 2023- in the company of a lot of other artists, writers and creative people brought together by Rosie’s Inishlacken project. We were all enjoying following in the footsteps of the three artists described so well in “Three Men on an Island” James McIntyre, Gerard Dillon and George Campbell, who painted there in the 1950’s.
