The Aran Islands lie off the west coast of Ireland, the largest of the three being Inis Mór. This is looking north showing a view of Errisbeg Hill and Connemara in the distance. The islands are very rocky with wonderful stone walls bordering and sheltering the fields and vegetable gardens. In the foreground there a lot of brownish red seaweed on the rocks which has been harvested for generations to improve and make the soil. Seaweed has a variety of uses including animal feeds and beauty products. It’s also used in cooking.
