In the early 1900’s, Guglielmo Marconi’s Wireless Communication Station at Derrygimlagh near Clifden was part of a system that made wireless global communication possible, connecting the world. On this site in 1919 Alcock & Brown landed their Vickers Vimy becoming the first aviators to cross the Atlantic.
